Sculpture and base: approx. 120 × 100 × 160 cm
Wall-mounted monitors are not included in these dimensions
Photographic slideshows and video; looping
Complete worn outfit and accessories purchased from a woman living in Saitama, Japan: grey cable-knit cardigan with faux-fur trim, pleated miniskirt, inner top, underwear, black socks, loafers, bag, and accessories; epoxy resin, plastic, steel armature, wire, coffee table, wooden platform, Starbucks cup, and other mixed media.
Two wall-mounted monitors present the seller’s photographs and video of herself wearing the outfit, and the studio’s item-by-item record of the received clothes, accessories, and shipping box.
Exhibition: Hysteresis, NCCU Arts & Culture Center, Taipei, 2026.
🍒 extends the sock sculptures from a brief recording of wearing and removal to a complete outfit worn out for a day. Contact began through the seller’s business offering worn socks and underwear. The request was for an everyday outfit exactly as she would wear it out, negotiated piece by piece; she wore it out that weekend and photographed herself in it. She did not ship abroad and would only sell through Mercari, so the outfit was bought from a reserved listing by a Japanese proxy buyer, then passed to a separate freight forwarder for shipment to Taiwan.
On arrival, every item and its packaging were photographed. The garments were then hardened separately in resin and assembled on a steel armature. The ensemble is turned upside down and opened: a sock and loafer rise to the top, underwear emerges among the outer layers, and a cardigan sleeve reaches down to the table.
The support develops from her photographs. A similar dark, white-veined table and a Starbucks cup, tipped on its side, recall images of her seated with a drink. Black forms wrapped in clear plastic echo an unidentified covered object behind her in another photograph. Details surrounding her become the structure beneath her clothes, while the two screens set the worn ensemble against the individual objects the sculpture was made from.
